Meadows Dies of Injuries Received in Wreck William T.F. Meadows, 32, of Dothan, Rt. 3, died about 7:30 PM last night of injuries received an hour earlier in an automobile wreck one mile east of Cottonwood. Two other men, Chalker Granger of Cottonwood, Rt. 1, and James Howard Lewis of Cottonwood were in a Dothan hospital today with the injuries suffered in the accident. State highway patrolman, Artie Vickery and Ben Allen investigated the mishap and said this morning that Lewis was alone in the automobile and Meadows and Granger occupied the other machine. The patrolman quoted C.I. Avery, a witness, as saying, the Lewis car was traveling slow and nearly off the roadway where it was sideswiped by the other automobile. Both cars were virtually demolished. Injuries of Lewis and Granger were described as "numerous cuts and bruises". Lewis is a member of the U.S. Navy and was spending a short furlough at home. Meadows had been a resident of Houston County all his life and was discharged from the Army last July. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church. Funeral for Meadows will be announced upon arrival of out of state relatives. Surviving are his wife and five children, Virginia, Nettie Sue, Althea, Truman and Gayle, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.M.
