The land was entered by William Davis 16 November 1830. Rebecca (Davis) Freeman was an original owner of the surrounding land as was Samuel B Davis. According to the land grant, his name was Samuel Baldwin Davis. According to a member of the Davis family there is a handmade marker that is believed to be that of Rebecca Davis. Family records of Samuel Davis, Senior, give the year of Rebecca's birth as 1827. The date of her death is unknown. It is believed by descendents of Samuel B. Davis, Sr. and Nancy Davis, his wife, that they are buried here in unmarked graves. This seems logical since the cemetery is on their land and at least four of their children are buried also here. The information above comes from book "Paint Rock Pioneers" by Adie Shaver and discussions with Mrs. Ira Puttman by my father, Joe Robert Davis, GGG Grandson of Samuel, who made a trip to this cemetery in 1992. He took pictures and verified the information found in the book. This cemetery is in need of a lot of maintenance and needs to be fenced to keep cattle of the landowner out. R.
