ALGenWeb File Manager - Lygia Dawkins Cutts ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Contributed by Jane Nichols ren@HiWAAY.net July 1999 I believe this may be my gg grandmother and gg grandfather's graves. I found this in the Annie Coleman Proctor Chronicles in the Scottsboro Public Library dated 1959 at the time of the transcription. There were only 3 readable headstones with several other graves here. The cemetery has had the headstones bulldozed down into the earth, but the owner told me the graves were still there. These are the three readable headstones in 1959. ELIZABETH THOMPSON 1801 10-17-1875 AGED 74 YEARS E.T. WAS ON THE FOOTSTONE A. HARGISS, JR. (STONE BROKEN) AGED 3 MOS. WILLIAM HARGISS 5-2-1799 6-4-1854 THEY HAVE MADE THE CEMETERY INTO A SITTING AREA ON TOP OF THE GRAVES. I THINK THIS IS AN OUTRAGE THAT PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED TO DO THIS, AND ASHAMED OF THE PEOPLE THAT DO IT.
