R. Accident ------------------------ It is singular how often men connected with railroads, and knowing well the danger of railroad risks, become the victims of them. We have a case in point. Mr. John F. Martin, agent of the M. & C. R. R. at Stevenson, Ala., for 15 years, was run over by a train from Chattanooga, last Friday night, and one of his legs was cut off and the other crushed and his head bruised and he died on Saturday. We hear that the trains, ordinarily stopped at the water tank before reaching the depot, and he expecting this train to do so, carelessly crossed the track and was run over, the engineer, said to be a very careful one, if seeing him, being unable to check up. Mr. Martin had a high reputation for personal and official integrity and excellent social qualities, and, from this reputation and our personal acquaintance, we deeply regret his sad end.
