He was an old and respected citizen. Mr. Brandon, on account of total disability, drew a pension of $72 from the government, being the largest pension paid to a private soldier. Additional Comments: Elisha Brandon is my GG grandfather. Elisha Brandon fought in the Civil War for the 1st Alabama Vidette Calvary Company A. He lost his leg in the Civil War. He was the husband of Sarah Jane Cornelison Brandon. He was married to her in 1854. They had the following children: John BC Brandon, William Calvin Brandon, James Brandon (died at the age of 8 in 1868), Nathan T. Brandon, and Becky Brandon who we think were twins.
