It is located on Green Springs Ave. and 6th Ave. S.W.. A road intersects the front gate of the cemetery and it is Martin Luther King Dr. I am from High Point, NC and came to Birmingham and Gadsden Ala. to see what I could find out. I had information that my dad's sister Regina GRAVES Swalley Chaney was buried there. I got that information from a Birmingham newspaper. I located the cemetery and went to the office to see if they had her and other family members listed. Her father and mother and two children were in the same lot. I found their headstones and wrote down the information off of each one. Edward E. Swalley was her husband. He died 30 Aug. 1913. He is not buried in the lot 264, but may be buried somewhere in the same cemetery, but I do not have information on him. Richard V. Swalley was another son of Regina and Edward. His headstone reads b. 23 Jul. 1908 d. 10 Jun. 1909. The office was about to close, so I was unable to locate other relatives that may be buried there. John Henry Graves and Emma Hamil Graves were my father's parents (Charles M. Graves). I had never been to Gadsden and had never seen my father's family. When in Gadsden, I visited the library and found one of Emma's brothers' (Pate Hamil) obituary. He was accidentally killed at a house in Owl's Valley (called that years ago) as a section or area of Gadsden. If you would like more information about this family, please email me.
