Guthery, Polly Doss, Sarah –Oct. 19, 1995 the members of the 19th Alabama Infantry Regiment re- enactment group unveiled a marker in the Morris Cemetery for Ambrose Doss – much of the history of the regiment survived due to the 52 letters he wrote to his wife Sarah Brake Doss – His last letter was written from a camp near Dalton, Georgia – the next letter received by Sarah was a letter from J.W. Rouse telling her that he had died at the Chattahooche River West Bank at fortifications on July the 6th 1864 – his body was buried on the Turner plantation within 700 yards of the river.
