Stubbs Extremely useful genealogical information from the testimony of William E. Tucker in this case: E. J. Carlisle bought the land involved about 50 years ago (c. 1860) NE ¼ of SE ¼ S20 T16 R1W except 2 ½ acres in the NE corner of said 40; also 5 acres in the SE corner of NW ¼ of SE ¼ S20 T16 R1W five miles east of East Lake, about ¼ mile from Springville ‘Public Road.’ E. J. Carlisle died about 18 to 20 years ago. (c. 1890 or1892) He had 9 children survive him: 1 - E. J. Carlisle Jr. 2 - Jane Carlisle - married William E. Tucker (the source of all this information.) William was 66 in 1910. 3 - Louis Carlisle - was in Russellville AL 20 Dec 1910. 4 - Nannie Carlisle - married a Lindsay (the same Wm. J. Lindsay mentioned in the Belcher letter?) 5 - Harriet Carlisle - married a Belcher (handwritten letter from her is in the file. See below*) 6 - Mary Carlisle - was married to Thomas Stubbs, had 4 children with him. 7 - Amelia Carlisle - also was married to Thomas Stubbs, had 3 children with him. 8 - Cornelius Carlisle 9 - Louisa Carlisle - married John Goolsby. They moved to Mississippi, where she died c. 1885, he died prior to this case in 1910. Since she died prior to her father, her children became his heirs in her stead, but their whereabouts were unknown. -------- grandchildren and great-grandchildren of E. J. Carlisle ------- (all were in Jefferson Co AL unless otherwise noted) (1) E. J. Carlisle Jr.’s children: - J. D. Carlisle - W. H. Carlisle - lived in Houston TX. - C. P. Carlisle - Harriet E. Carlisle - married Glenn(?) Wood - lived in Bibb Co AL. - Ophelia Carlisle - married a Caffey. (6) Mary Carlisle Stubb’s children: - Louis Stubbs - lived in Franklin Co AL. - Louisa Stubbs - married a Byars - Melissa Stubbs - married a Moore - living at this time in Morgan Co AL. - James Stubbs (both he and wife dead by 1910) children: Sam Stubbs (might be William Samuel Stubbs) Seller Stubbs D. Stubbs - TX John L. Stubbs - TX Charles Stubbs - TX Daisy Stubbs - TX (7) Amelia Carlisle Stubb’s Children: - Joe Stubbs - living in Georgia at this time. - Georgie Stubbs - married a Mann - lived in Morgan Co AL. - Mary Stubbs (deceased) - married S. P. Ware. Husband and their nine children were still living in 1910: Penanda Ware - married a Moore Etta Ware - married a Wade Ollie Ware - married a McClinton Lucy Ware Cleveland Ware Ben Ware Russell Ware Homer Ware Ora Ware (nearly 16 at this time in 1910) ------------------ Handwritten letter from Mrs. H. E. Belcher in TX to W. J. Lindsay in AL: [I], “are [heir] of E. J. Carlisle hear athrises you Biley Linsy to reseve my part of sed E. J. Carliles’s astate and send the sam to me H. E.
