McLure to J. Ware This Indenture made and entered into this twenty fourth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty between Arthur McLure and Sarah McLure his wife of the one part and John Ware of the second part all of the County of Jefferson and State of Alabama, Witnesseth That the said Arthur McLure and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Six hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said John Ware the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained, sold, aliened enfeoffed and conveyed and by these presents doth bargain, sell alien enfeoff and convey unto the said John Ware the following tract of land viz commencing at the N.E. corner of the West half of the South East quarter of Section 19 Township 18 of Range 3 West, running West 57 ½ chains thence along the crop fence to the road being (?85?) chains thence running the road to the South West corner of said half quarter being 105 chains thence East to the South East corner of the above described half quarter and from thence to the beginning containing Eighty acres more or less, it being in the District of Tuscaloosa. To have and to hold the same together with the tenements and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the said John Ware his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Arthur McLure and Sarah his wife for themselves their heirs executors and administrators doth warrant and will forever defend the title to the said land from and against themselves and against all other persons whomsoever. In Testimony whereof the said Arthur McLure and Sarah his wife had hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the date above written. Arthur McLure {Seal} Sarah McLure {Seal} “The State of Alabama ) Personally appeared before me Jefferson County ) Thomas McAdory an acting Justice of the Peace in and for said County Arthur McLure grantor of the within deed, acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered as herein specified as his act and deed on the day and date therein, also appeared Sarah McLure whose appears to the within (stated exactly like that) and wife of the affore Arthur McLure who being by me examined separate [sic] and apart from her said husband acknowledged that she did on the day of the date thereof sign, seal and deliver the same of her own free will without any fear threats or compulsion of her said husband. Given under my hand and seal this 24th of January A.D. 1850. The document itself uses the double s that looks like f's.
