The Birmingham News, 22 April 1940, page 15, column :

BLACK – Thomas William Black, age 57, passed away at the residence, Rt. 5, Birmingham, Sunday night.  Survived by the widow; 1 son, James Davis Black; 1 daughter, Miss Mary Christine Black; 2 brothers, Earle and Robert Black.  Funeral services from Johns-Service Chapel Tuesday 3:30 p.m.  Interment Forest Hill Cemetery, Rev. Hacker officiating.  Active pallbearers will be the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen and Conductors, C. H. Hartsell, J. M. Brown, D. W. Leonard, R. R. Roberts, B. M. Childs, J. C. Lacey.  Johns-Service directing.
