H. M. Black The Rev. Henry Monroe Black, 70, life-long resident of Adamsville and retired Freewill Baptist minister, died yesterday at his home after a long illness. Mr. Black became a minister about 25 years ago after retiring as a carpenter. His last ministerial assignment was in North Birmingham about five years ago. Surviving are his wife; six sons, Bernice Black, Birmingham, Vernon Black, Miami, Fla.; Herman Black, Hawthorne, Calif.; Clifford Black, Walnut Creek, Calif.; Jack Black, Graysville, and Floyd Black, Adamsville; a daughter, Mrs. Juanita Shedd, Adamsville; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Johnson, Adamsville, and Mrs. Marie Godfrey, Fairfield Highlands; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at Union Grove Methodist Church, the time to be announced. Bural will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Bell Funeral Home directing. Additional Comments: From my personal records and the family bible, Henry was born 28 Jan. 28, 1883, and died 30 Mar 1953. Henry was my great Uncle.
