Funeral services were to be held at the residence Tuesday afternoon. The body will be sent to Cedartown, Ga. Wednesday, by Vice. Mr. Burdette is survived by his wife, two sons, E. L. Burdette of Birmingham and O H Burdette of Atlanta, and one daughter, Mrs. E. L., Kennedy of Birmingham. The Birmingham News Wed. 20 June 1923, p 23 J. A. Burdette Funeral services for J A Burdette, 75, who died at his residence 5201 Austin Avenue. Tuesday morning, were held from the residence Tuesday afternoon at 7 o'clock. The body was sent to Cedartown, Ga., Wednesday morning for burial. The Cedartown Standard June 21, 1923 p 10 Squire Burdette Dead Mr. J A Burdette, one of our well known and venerable citizens who has been living for some time with his son, Mr. E L Burdette in Birmingham, died there Tuesday morning, aged 73 years. His widow and his son and family accompanied the remains here yesterday morning. He is also survived by another son, Mr. Otis Burdette of Atlanta, who came over with his wife yesterday for the funeral, and a daughter, Mrs. Geo. Kennedy. Others called here by his death were Mr. E. D. Mitchell of Decatur, and Mrs. Archie Bridges of Atlanta. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. W. Hamrick. Mr. Burdette was a charter member of the Union Grove Baptist Church at Pooletown, and served for several years as justice of the peace here. He had many warm friends throughout this section.
