Services were held at Brown-Service Norwood Chapel, with the Rev. Mabry Rose and the Rev. Paul Brinkley officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. A native of Georgia, Mr. Carter had made his home in Birmingham for the past 75 years. At the time of his death, he lived at 1004 Fourth-way, Prat City. He was a retired lumber contractor and was a former employe of Wood Lumber Co. He was a member of the Coosa Valley Baptist Church and was a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma J. Carter, two daughters, Mrs. Estelle Hartley and Mrs. W. L. Phillips and a son M-Sgt. Charlie L. Carter Jr., stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga. Additional Comments: Note: Charlie Lee Carter was born in 1874 in Randolph or Marshall County, Alabama. He was the son of Seaborn J. Carter & Amanda Curtis. His parents were both born in GA. He married Emma Jones in 1898 in Shelby County AL.
