Early Elyton Resident, Mrs. Kate Myers, Dies

     Mrs. Kate DeJarnette Myers, 87, widow of C. C. Myers and resident of old 
Elyton before it was incorporated into Birmingham, died last night at the 
residence of her daughter, Mrs. E. M. Scott and Dr. Scott, 804 South 39th 
Street.
     She is survived by her daughter Mrs. Scott, a brother Mims DeJarnette; two 
grandsons, owens Myers Scott and Dr. Edward M. Scott, Jr.; a granddaughter Mrs. 
J. W. McPoland, a great-granddaughter Helen Stewart McPoland and her daughter-
in-law Mrs. D. D. Myers and several nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the residence.  
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers are Tom DeJarnette, 
Lewis DeJarnette, the Rev. John Rice, John P. DeJarnette, John F. Beard and 
Morgan St. John.

Myers - Mrs. Kate DeJarnette Myers, age 7\87, of 804 S. 39th Street, passed 
away Monday p.m. at the residence.  Survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. E. M. Scott, 2 
grandsons, Dr. Edgar M. Scott, Jr.; Owen Myers Scott; 1 granddaughter, Mrs. J. 
W. McToland; 1 great granddaughter, Helen Stewart McToland; 1 daughter-in-law, 
Mrs. D. D. Myers; 1 brother, Mims DeJarnette, all of Birmingham; several nieces 
and nephews.  Funeral services will be held from the residence Wednesday 3 p.m. 
interment Oak Hill Cemetery.  Rev. John Turner officiating. Ridout's Brown-
Service directing.
