Born Oct. 21, 1860, Louina, Randolph County
Died Feb. 27, 1958, Birmingham, Alabama
Son of
Dr. Wilson L. Heflin and Lavicie Phillips Heflin
He pioneered in surgery, is credited with the seventh spleen
removal operation in the nation, performed the first
hysterectomy in the South and for more than half a century
served as a distinguished and beloved Alabama physician
and surgeon
