Hanke lhbham@yahoo.com July 25, 2006, 9:04 pm Loose Records, Jefferson County. Alabama 1899 Henry Tuech, age 37, born in France, asking for divorce from Maria R. Tuech, age 30, also born in France, on grounds of desertion. Maria was a daughter of Eugene Rouveyrol, age 53, born in France, now living in Jefferson County AL with wife Eugenia, and sons Eugene and Henry still at home (1900). Henry Tuech and Maria Rouveyrol were married in France 14 Oct 1889, and had one daughter, Henrietta, who was 6 in Sept. 1899. From c 1893, Henry was a miner in Wylam AL. In 1898(?) Maria left with Henrietta and went with a man named Ferdinand Chanal to Lexington, Lafayette Co Missouri. Ferdinand had a brother Denis Chanal who testified in the case. Henry's brother Clovis Tuech also testified, as did Maria's father Eugene Rouveyrol. Other witnesses were Firman Thomas, Sophie Bessiere of Pratt City AL, and August Martin. Henry was granted the divorce. Henry and Maria evidently did not remain divorced, because they are together again on the 1910 census in Jefferson County AL, with Henrietta, age 16, born AL, and a son Eugene, age 3, born AL. At that time, Henry was a 'moulder' in a steel mill.
