Walnut Grove Cemetery
Lamar County, Alabama


#102 on the 2002 Lamar County Cemetery Map

Take highway 17 South from Vernon, AL to County Road 22 
(also marked as Walnut Grove Road)

This Cemetery was originally called McGee Cemetery.  The property for 
the Cemetery was donated by the Peter McGee family ( Information provided 
by Sabra Leigh Newell Sudberry).

A Group of Members from the Lamar County Genealogical Society met at 
Walnut Grove Cemetery on  March 20, 2003  and  recorded the people 
buried there.   Those recording the  Cemetery information  Flora McCool, 
Faye Walker, Billy & Janette Lawrence, Thurman & Margaret Shackelford, 
Sabra Sudberry, Jim Dierking, Rachel McReynolds & Kawatha “Kay” Koonce .  
There are many unmarked  graves and/or graves marked by a field rock or 
other means with no information.  Also, there were some that were very 
hard to read.
