Jones Deed to S.C. Hopkins This indenture made and entered into 27th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty six between John T. Hankins John T. Jones and Mary J. Hankins party of the first part and, Sudley C. Hopkins, party of the second part witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to them in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the party of the second part receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and doth by these presence grant bargain sell and convey unto the said party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever the following described lands to wit W1/2 of SE1/4 & S1/2 SW1/4 Section 14 and NE1/4 NW1/4 Sec 23 Township 16, Range 15 West containing two hundred acres more or less lying and being in the County of Fayette and State of Alabama together with all and singular the tenements and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining and also all the estate right till claims or demand whatever of John T. Hankins & wife & John T. Jones the said party of the first part either in law or equity of in and to the above bargained premises and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns to the whole and only proper benefit and behoove of the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns for and the said party of the first part for themselves their heirs executors administrators and assigns doth hereby warrant and will forever defend the title of the above bargained premises to S.C. Hopkins his heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of all and every person or persons whomsoever as also the claim of the General Government. In testimony whereof the party of the first part hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals J.T. Hankins J.T. Jones M.J. Hankins State of Alabama Fayette County I B.H. Williams Judge of Probate and for said county hereby certify that John T. Hankins J.T. Jones & M.J. Hankins whose names are signed to the foregoing conveyance and who are known to me acknowledged before me this day that being informed of the contents of said conveyance they executed the same voluntarily on the day the same being date. Given under my hand this 27th day of January 1866 B.H.
