MORTON left Tuesday to visit her son, Dr. EMMETT MORTON at Guin, Alabama. Mr. JOHN STEPHENS of Aberdeen Miss., visited relatives in town the first of the week. Some of the streets in town need attention, as there are quite a number of dangerous holes in them. Mr. TOM HAMILTON of Shannon Miss visited relatives in town the first of the week. Mrs. RHODA MACE returned from Columbus, Friday after a several days visit to that city Mr. and Mrs. W. G. MIDDLETON have just returned from a pleasant visit to relatives in Fayette County. Miss DELIA TURMON a charming student of the Institute has been quite sick this week. We now have blank waive notes for sale at this office. A book of one hundred for fifty cents. Mr. JEFF PENNINGTON, who has been quite sick at Mr. HALEY’S in town this week, we are glad to note is out again. Mr. GEORGE HARRIS of Winfield, Alabama while traveling through Lamar County a few days since, lost a lot of notes and mortgages somewhere in the county. Sheriff METCALFE is having the Court House repaired this week preparing for Court. Most of the work is replacing the lights which have been broken. It seems that our friends desire us to know that our girl has married “the other fellow” as we have received an even half dozen newspapers which contained the notice of her marriage. We have a number of books on hand that have been selected by subscribers. We have endeavored to deliver them without mailing, as the postage is very heavy. All who can will please call and get their books. While out driving Sunday afternoon, Mr. WILLIE SUMMERS and Miss ADA WIMBERLY had what came near being a serious accident, the front axle of the buggy breaking suddenly, but fortunately neither of them was hurt. Mrs. ALICE MCNEIL returned to her home at Kennedy on Wednesday. She was accompanied by her lovely and accomplished sister, Miss BEULAH SPRINGFIELD, who will spend sometime in that delightful little city. Marriage license have been issued since last report as follows: J. T. TEASLEY and RHODA PORTER; H. E. RUSSELL and FRANCIS LILIAN JACKSON; ROBERT KILES and SARAH A. COBB; WILLIAM A.
