Turner, who lived about 7 or 8 miles south of here, was driving a team of mules to a wagon last Thursday. The mules became scared, ran away, and threw Mr. Turner between the whiffletree and the mules, where he was kicked so severely that he died soon after. He was one of Lamar's best citizens and his loss is deeply regretted. Additional Comments: This doesn't give his date of death. However, he is buried at Turner Cemetery, Vernon, Lamar County. The tombstone gives the date of his death as Sept 2, 1896.
