This indenture made & entered into this the 28th day of December 1840 between 
Ann Harvey of the first part, Rhease P. Hughes of the second part and William
Huey [note might be Henry], John Archer Farley, James Thompson Farley and
Frederick Forrest Farley - children of May Ann Farley, daughter of her said Ann
of the third part.

Witness that the said Ann Harvey for & in consideration of the natural love and
affection she the said Ann bears to the said children aforesaid & for their
better support and education as well as for the maintenance of her the said Mary
Ann Farley & for the further consideration of five dollars to her the said Ann,
by him the said Hughes paid the receipt whereof is hereby admitted. She the said
Ann hath granted, bargained & sold & by these present doth grant bargain & sell
unto him the said Hughes, his executors & administrators, the following slave,
Sicilla, to have & to hold with her future increase unto the said Hughes, his
executors & administrators forever. Upon this trust nevertheless & upon the
following terms, that the said Hughes shall suffer the said Mary Ann Farley to
retain possession of the said slave & her future increase & to enjoy the fruits
of their labour for the support of her & the children so long as she keeps them
with her and when her children aforesaid shall leave, ______ she is no longer
compelled to maintain them. Then the intent is that the said slave & her future
increase be equally divided among them the said children. Provided the said
Hughes shall ___ the said Mary Ann Farley to carry the said slave & increase
wherever she may fix her residence.  Given under our hands and seals this day &
year above.

Personally appeared before me, Wiley Gallaway Clerk of  County Court of said
county appeared Robert Armstrong one of the subscribing witness to this within
Deed who after being duly sworn deposeth and with saith that he saw the within
named Ann Harvey sign, seal and deliver the within deed to the said Rhease P.
Hughes for the purposes therein expressed and the said Rhease P. Hughes also
signed and sealed the same in his deponents presence and in presence of Andrew
Armstrong the other subscribing witness to said deed & that at the request of
the said parties to said deed & in their presence he said deponent and said
Andrew Armstrong subscribed their names as witnesses thereto.  Wiley Gallaway, Clerk
