Warrens Battalion of Cavalry and while in discharge of his duty on the 24 of September 1864____at Athens____in the State of Alabama He was shot through his right leg and through the body and broke the bone and in consequence of which loss of limb, wound or wounds, he has been rendered physically incapable of making a livelihood by labor; That he was a resident of Alabama on the 13 day of February, 1891, and is a resident at the date of this application; That he is engaged in the business of Farming, that his taxable property does not exceed Four Hundred Dollars in value. His Salary and Gross Income does not amount to Four Hundred Dollars per year. FOR THE RELIEF OF NEEDY CONFEDERATE S0LDIERS AND SAILORS, RESIDENTS OF ALABAMA, WHO FROM WOUNDS OR OTHER CAUSE, ARE NOW UNABLE TO EARN A LIVELIHOOD BY LABOR, UNDER ACT APPROVED FEBRUARY 13th, 1891, ( H. KUMPE, JUDGE OF PROBATE in and for said County, in said State, personally appeared, ____RUFUS BERRYMAN_____, Who being duly sworn, deposes and says: That, while in the military or naval service of this State, or Confederate States, he was a private in company____Caps. Lynders___of Warrens Battalion of confederate Cavalry and, that he did not desert the service of this State, or Confederate States; That while in the discharge of his duties as such, on the 24 day of September 1864 at Athens, in the State of Alabama. He was wounded in the right thigh braking the bone and, in consequence of such loss of limb, wound or wounds; sickness or old age, he is physically unable to earn a livelihood by labor: That he was, on the 13th day of February, 1891, and is now, a resident of Alabama, and that his post office address is________Hatton Alabama That he is engaged in the business of______Farming That his taxable property consists of______1 horse and 80 acres of Land, and not worth in the aggregate more than Five Hundred Dollars: That his salary or gross income does not amount to Five Hundred Dollars per year; and that his wife does not own a separate estate of more than Five Hundred Dollars.
