To any of the Judges of said state, any Justice of the Peace of said county, or any ordained Minister of the Gospel legally authorised: These are to authorize you, or any of you, to solemnize the rites of Matrimony between John Harvey and Ann Harper of said county, agreeable to the statute in such case made and provided. Saunders Recorded in Marriage License Book C P. 148 Know all men by these presents, That we, John Harvey and Thomas T. Harper of Lawrence County, State of Alabama, are held and firmly bound unto the Governor of said State, for the time being, and his successors in office, in the sum of two hundred dollars, for the use of said State --for the due payment whereof, we hereby bind ourselves and our heirs, jointly and severally. Witness our hands and seals this 23 day of Dec 1828 The condition of the above obligation is such: That the said John Harvey hath this day prayed a License from the Clerk of the County Court of Lawrence County, to be married to Ann Harper. Now if there is no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage, then the above obligation to be voiced, otherwise to remain in full force. John Harvey Thomas T. Harper ==================================== Marriage License Wilkins Harper to Ann Farley January 29, 1828 Executed on the 21st Jan'y 1828. F. Saunder Recorded in Marriage License Book C P. 148 Know all men by these presents, That we, Wilkins Harper and Charley Person of Lawrence County, State of Alabama, are held and firmly bound unto the Governor of said State, for the time being, and his successors in office, in the sum of two hundred dollars, for the use of said State --for the due payment whereof, we hereby bind ourselves and our heirs, jointly and severally. Person Additional Comments: Ann Nancy Robertson married Archer Farley in Charlotte County VA. Nov 29, 1789. Archer died around 1812. Ann moved with most of her children to Lawrence Co Alabama. She married Wilkins Harper in Lawrence Co Al Jan 1828. After Wilkins Harper died ca June/July 1828, Ann married John Harvey Dec 1828. Thomas T. Harper was Wilkins Harper's son. The Harper and Harvey families probably knew one another through the Methodist Church... perhaps the one that met in the Kitty Caskey School House, where John Harvey was a layman and preacher.
