A. Baker and his wife Susan Baker of the state of Georgia and the county of Polk of the first part and Wm. Byrd Sr. (or Jr.?) of the State of Alabama and the county of Lee of the second part. Witnesseth, that the said I. A. Baker and his wife Susan M. Baker of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of seven Hundred Dollars to them in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of then presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Wm Byrd, Sr. (or Jr.?) his heirs and assigns, all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Lee, formerly the County of Russell, in the State of Alabama described as follows, to wit. Commencing at the Opelika Rail Road going to Joseph Hammuks land and running east and north east Mr. Cropps land, then north to Factory Road, then running west with the Factory Road, to the Seller(?) land, then south to the corner to a point, then west to the Mary Sellers dower Land line, then south to the Opelika Rail Road to the commencing point at Thos Muck's line being part of section twenty four & five, Township Eighteen & nineteen and containing one hundred and sixty five acres more or less. To have and to hold said tract or parcel of land unto him the said Wm. Byrd Sr. (or Jr.?) his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances ?? unto in any manner belonging, to him and his proper use and behoof forever in fee simple. And the said I. A. Baker & his wife Susan M. Baker for themselves their heirs and assigns Executors and administrators will warrant and forever defend the said bargained premises and the right and title ?? unto the said W. Byrd Sr. (or Jr.?) his heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of any and all persons whomsoever. In witness whereof the said I. A. Baker & his wife Susan M. Baker have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written. Isaac A. Baker Susan M. Baker Signed, sealed & delivered in the presence of Chas B. Parker William Warner, Jr. The State of Alabama, Cherokee County On this the 11th day of January, before me a Notary Publick of said County and State personally appeared I. A. Baker and his wife Susan M. Baker whose names are signed to the within conveyance that being fully informed of the nature of said instrument acknowledged before me that they signed the same voluntarily and of their own free will. Susan M. Baker being questioned separately acknowledged that being fully acquainted with the contents & nature of within conveyance that she signed the same voluntarily. Chas. B. Parker, N. P.
