Walton purchased 1/2 interest in South wall of the two story building now occupied by W.A. HUDSON. Also a strip of land, from J.C. & J.K. EDWARDS. For the sum of one hundred sixty one dollars and 50/100 ($161.50) T.M. WALTON purchased an undivided one-half interest in and to a certain building wall constructed of brick, forming the South side of the two story building now occupied by W.A. HUDSON, the said wall being in length forty-seven (47) feet running back from Chambers Street and being the Western boundary of the lot known in the plot of the Town of Opelika...together with all the priveleges of joining to and connecting with said wall, all such other walls and buildings as he, the said T.M. WALTON , may hereafter see fit and proper to erect. Provided however that should the said wall be destroyed or demolished by fire or otherwise the said one-half interest and priveleges shall cease and expire. And the said J.C. & J.K. EDWARDS for the further consideration of an one-half interest in a certain other brick wall erected on the land hereafter described by the said T.M. WALTON, the said wall to be owned and used as a party wall, with all the priveleges and incidents connected therewith, by and between the said parties hereto, etc. do sell convey grant and confirm unto the said T.M. WALTON, etc. the following described property: An undivided one-half interst in and to a certain portion, piece or strip of land in said Town of Opelika, viz a section or slip of lot No.---in Block No.---beginning forty-seven (47) feet from Chambers St. on the South-west end of the building known as the HUDSON's CONFECTIONARY, thence running West in a straight line with said lot or building twenty three (23) feet, and in width --- inches, it being understood to embrace the strip or parcel of ground whereas has been erected by said T.M. Additional Comments: The dates given are those on a photocopy original records, so apparently the deed was not filed for some years or there was an error in the writing. T.M. WALTON is Dr. Thomas Marion WALTON (CSA) husband of Mary Elizabeth JOHNSON. Sellers of the 'wall' was W.A. HUDSON and of the strip of land was J.C. and J.K. EDWARDS.
