Dent from a copy in my files that was obtained from the Anniston Library collection in Anniston, Alabama. His name is show on various documents as Garnet, Garnett, and Garrett. For my purposes, I am accepting Garnett as the proper spelling of his name until better clarification can be made. It is important to note that Garnett was in Co. D of the 47th Alabama Infantry Regiment when he joined the Confederate Army; he was transferred to Co. H. on September 1, 1862, and also served in Co. K of the same Regiment. Garnett went to General Hospital Camp Winder in Richmond, Virginia on 19 December 1862 for pneumonia. On 26 (maybe 28) Dec. 1862 he was transferred to CSA General Hospital in Danville, Virginia, until he was returned to duty on January 17, 1963. From May 13 - May 16, 1863, Garnett was in Chimborazo Hospital #4 in Richmond, Virginia for a sprained ankle. On either June 17 or June 19th, 1863, Garrett A. Dent was killed outside Petersburg, Virginia by a gunshot wound to the head. He was only 26 or 27 and never married. He was the son of John T. and Margaret A. (nee Chunn) Dent.
