Simmons, survived by two sisters and 9 children. His sisters are Mrs. Jane Yarborough, of Roxana, and Mrs. Bettie Hays, of Earle. His children are messrs. Joe Simmons of Thornton; T.S. Simmons, of Phoenix City; T.J., J.R., A.R., and misses Mary and M.M. Simmons, Mrs. Wm Cosby, of Dadeville; Mrs. Martha Dillard, of Thornton. Additional Comments: John lived in Tallapoosa County, Alabama just across the county line from the Roxana cemetery. This area was known as Simmons Crossroads. John W. was buried at Roxana. The tombstone reflects a different date for his death than what was shown in the obituary. Others buried there include: his wife, Lorena, his sister Sara Jane Yarbrough and her husband, his son Zeph T., and his daughters, Margarfet M. and Sara A. Many others of the Simmons family are also buried there.
