WILLIAM BYRD DEAD He Was an Aged and Respected Citizen of Lee County. Mr. William Bird (sic), a highly esteemed gentleman and resident of Lee county, died at his home on the Summerville road, near Smith’s Station, yesterday morning. His funeral services are to be held at the Mount Zion church, Smith’s Station, tomorrow afternoon at three o’clock. Mr. Byrd was born at his late residence nearly seventy-two years ago. He has lived there ever since. From his boyhood he was an earnest and consistent member of the Methodist church. He lately became associated with Mount Zion church. Mr. Byrd was generally well thought of and had numerous friends both in Alabama and in this city. He had been ill for quite a time, and it is thought that his old age caused his death. He leaves behind him, besides his widow, the following children: Mrs. Henry Gibson, of Apalachicola; Mrs. A. H. Frazier, of Smith’s Station; Mr. W. D. Byrd, of San Antonio, Tex.; Misses Addie and Reba Byrd, and Messrs. Gordon, Marvin and Clarence Byrd, who resided at their father’s home near Smith’s Station.
