M. F. BYRD DIED SUNDAY Well Known Resident of Smiths Station Victim of Long Illness Mrs. M. F. Byrd, aged 63(?) years, died at her residence near Smith’s Station, Ala., Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock, after an illness of about one year of Bright’s disease. The deceased was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist church at Smith’s Station and for a number of years had been giving her church her best work, taking a great interest in all of its affairs and institutions. She had resided in the community for about 50 years and with her husband who died about eight years ago had reared an interesting family. She is survived by four sons and four daughters, as follows: Messrs Whitely Byrd, of Texas, Marvin and Gordon Byrd of near Smith’s Station, Clarence Byrd of Muscogee county, Ga., Mrs. Ed Baker of Birmingham, Mrs. A. H. Frazer and Miss Rheba Byrd of near Smith’s and Mrs. W. H. Gibson of Apalachicola, Fla. The funeral was held at Mt. Zion church Monday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock and interment followed at the cemetery at that place the services being conducted by the Rev. D. M. Banks, of Opelika.
