BYRD DEAD An Estimable Lady of Smith’s Station Passes Away. Mrs. Marinda Byrd, the wife of Mr. John W. Byrd, died at their home near Smith’s Station, Sunday afternoon at about 2 o’clock. Mrs. Byrd had been ill with rheumatism for about a year. She was feeling very well until a short time before her death, when she became suddenly worse, and died in about three hours. Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters and three sons: Mr. J. W. Byrd, Jr., and Misses Maggie, Eula and Minnie Byrd, of near Smith’s Station, Mrs. Samuel Meadows and Mr. Harrison Byrd of Crawford, Ala., Mrs. John Price of Phenix City, and Mr. R. L. Byrd of Mobile. Mrs. Byrd was about 65 years of age, and was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. The funeral services took place at Mount Zion church yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The interment was at the church cemetery.
