The Talbotton New Era Thursday, June 2, 1910 Page Six In Memoriam There passed away at Geneva, Ga. On Saturday, May 21st, a man who numbered his friends by the score in two states. He bound them to him through the warmth and generosity of his nature. To the needy and helpless his heart and hand was ever open. Honest, just and generous, Bat Ingram left the only heritage worthwhile, the memory of great kindness. To his friends, no task was too heavy, no work to onerous and no favor too large to grant. His unselfish devotion, his readiness to sacrifice his own time and pleasure entitled him to wear the princely motto, “I serve”. His manners were so agreeable, his courtesy so uniform, his friendship so constant and his fidelity so unfailing, that he won the esteem and good will of all with whom he came in contact. In him, were so many characteristics which attract and hold friends; so much of brightness, a loving kindness and sweetness of disposition. Although he never married, his home was the mecca for many friends and loved ones. No one understood the gentle art of hospitality better than he. Sunshine and happiness were dispensed with courtly grace. Association with him was a pleasure because the mellowing and gladdening influence of his geniality. His passing falls heaviest upon his sisters. To them, his devotion, affection and tender consideration will ever be a sweet and all pervading fragrance. May this memory soften their grief and bring comfort to their hearts. Rest to his generous, lovable manly soul. He was our friend; we loved him and would that he could come back from the land of silence.
