Irate Negro Kills His Wife

Released from Jail, He Goes Home and Shoots Her

Opelika, Ala., March 18 – Bud Pitts, a negro, killed his wife here Monday 
afternoon by shooting her in the side.

They had had a quarrel a few days before and shot had him arrested.  As soon as 
he got out he went home and shot her.  He then shot at a negro boy in the yard 
and fled to the woods.

The sheriff, city officers and many Negroes have been pursuing him, but without 
avail so far.  He was seen yesterday morning near here, and it is possible he 
wil be caught.
