Simmons, aged 58 years, died yesterday at 11 a.m. at his home in Phenix. In bad health for several years with Bright's disease, death was from a stroke of paralysis. He is survived by his wife and children. Charles Simmons of Tallassee John Simmons of Waverly Mrs. W.S. Blackmon and Mrs. C.D. Newman of Phenix Mr. Simmons was interred at 1 p.m. at Philadelphia Church near Smith Station. Additional Comments: There was no grave marker in the cemetery when I did my initial research. A marker was ordered from the VA for Tillman and was placed in the cemetery. Tillman S. Simmons was a confederate veteran of the 63rd Alabama Infantry. His wife,Narcissa Jane is also buried in the same cemetery as well as his grand son, John Eugene Simmons, and his great grandson, John Eady Simmons.
