Written: January 10, 1871

The State of Ala}Know all men by these presents
Lee County} that I, J. T. Scott, of said county and state, being of sound 
and disposing mind and memory, do make and declare this to be my last will 
and testament.
1st It is my will that all of my just debts be paid out of my Estate as soon 
as the same can be done without injury to said Estate. 
2nd I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Philo E. Scott all of my 
estate, real, personal, and mixed, and I hereby give her full power to 
barter, sell or exchange all or any portion of said estate, and to manage 
the same as fully and completely as I could if I were living. 
3rd I hereby give my Executrix hereinafter named, full power to barter, 
sell, or exchange all or any portion of my estate, either publicly or 
privately, and without advertising or giving any notice of said barter, 
sale, or exchange.
4th I hereby make, constitute, and appoint my beloved wife, Philo E. Scott, 
the Executrix of this my last will and testament.
5th I hereby exempt my Executrix from giving bond for the execution of this 
my last will and testament to any court or jurisdiction whatsoever.
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal, and declare this to be 
my last will and testament on this the 10th day of January. A. D. 1871.
