(This record has also been submitted to the Greensville Co.VA.Archives) Power of Attorney - William Sanders to George A.Sykes, 1832 (Deed Book 7, Page 61, Greensville Co.VA.) KNOW all men by these presents, that whereas Isaac Fox late of the County of Greensville and State of Virginia died seized and possessed of a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said County of Greensville and State of Virginia known as the one on which he the said Isaac Fox resided up to the time of his death, which said tract or parcel of land regularly descended to his two children Lucy and Sarah, and whereas William Sanders of the County of Limestone and State of Alabama hath intermarried with the said Sarah Fox the youngest child of the said Isaac Fox dec'd. and thereby hath become entitled to the one half of the said tract or parcel of land by reason of his said marriage etc. And he the said William Sanders and Sarah his wife being desirous to sell and dispose of the same. Now know ye that we the said William Sanders and Sarah his wife of the said County of Limestone and State of Alabama have nominated, constituted and appointed George A.Sykes of the County of Greensville and State of Virginia and by these presents do hereby constitute and appoint the said George A.Sykes, our true and lawful attorney for us and in our names, to sell and dispose of absolutely and in fee simple, for such price or sum of money, and to such person or persons as he shall think fit and convenient, all our part of the said undivided tract or parcel of land as aforesaid, and also for us and in our names, and as our acts and deed, to sign, seal and execute and deliver, such deed and conveyance for the absolute sale and disposal thereof in all respects, as we could do ware we present to act for ourselves, hereby ratifying and confirming such acts and deeds, conveyances, bargains, and sale which he the said George A.Sykes may make as our attorney touching or concerning the premises by these presents. In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this 17th day of February 1832. The State of Alabama, Limestone County, Personally appeared before us James Wilkinson & Thomas Gray two Justices of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid William Sanders and Sarah his wife who acknowledged that they severally signed, sealed and delivered the foregoing Power of Attorney on the day and year therein mentioned to the aforesaid George A.Sykes, and the said Sarah Sanders wife as aforesaid being by us privately examined apart from her said husband acknowledged that she signed sealed & delivered the said Power of Attorney for the purposes therein expressed freely, without any fear, threats, or compulsion, of the said husband. (Seal) The State of Alabama, Limestone County Sct: I Robert Austin Jr. Clerk of the County Court of the County aforesaid do hereby certify that James R.Wilkinson and Thomas Gray before whom the within acknowledgement was taken was at the date thereof two acting Justices of the Peace in and for the County of Limestone and State aforesaid, and that said acknowledgement is in due form of Law. In witness whereof I have hereto set my name and affixed the seal of the said Court at office this 18th day of February 1832 and 56 year of American Independence. Teste Robert Austin Jr. Clk.
