  Last rites were held on Friday, June 13, for James Franklin Baker, Sr., 71, 
who died at his late residence on Athens route eight, June 12 at 2:30 p.m. by 
Rev. M. A. Creel of Cullman at Oakland cemetery at 4 p.m. McConnell Service was 
in charge of burial.
  Mr. Baker, the son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth Hall Baker, is survived 
by one son, James, Jr., of route eight; one brother, Lawrence, Athens, and one 
sister, Mrs. Effie Burns, Athens.
  Serving as pallbearers were Mack Owens, Carl Hardy, J.D. Flanagan, Elmer 
Brooks, Ottis Tucker and Henry Casteel.
