Horton wphor@sbcglobal.net February 16, 2005, 1:28 pm THE ATHENS POST - October 16, 1873 From THE ATHENS POST (Athens, Limestone Co, AL) - October 16, 1873 DIED. DEATH OF R. W. JOHNSON. REUBEN W. JOHNSON, whose death was announced last week as occurring in this place on the 7th inst., was well known in this and adjoining states. He grew into manhood and married here, his first wife being the daughter of Col. H. H. HIGGINS. For the last few years his health had been failing, and the disease (Consumption) which had been making such inroads on him was augmented, doubtless, by the seclusion, his profession, that of a compositor, demanded. Two or more years since he went to the Atlantic coast hoping the change might be of benefit to him, but he only returned in time to die among friends. Mr. JOHNSON, we learn, had espoused the Catholic faith and felt sure of his acceptance with God.
