She died Feb. 10, 1871; there is no tombstone for her in this cemetery. His son, John TODD, born July 23, 1828, died Feb. 20, 1923 and wife, Eliza Jane Hinton TODD, b. abt. 1826, died Mar. 15, 1899, may be buried in this cemetery, but, again, no tombstone. [Information added by Rosa Lyon Traylor and Carolyn Golowka] From Bethany Baptist Church Minutes, June, 1851: "Divine services after which the church attended to the burial of Monroe and Jane Hardy's infant child." [Jane Hardy was born Martha Jane MCCANTS and she married James Monroe HARDY on Dec. 18, 1845.] This listing also includes the graves of some members of Old Bethel Baptist Church, the black church which was formed by the former slave members of Bethany. Old Bethel is located adjacent to the Bethany churchyard.
