The original minutes have been donated to Samford University, Birmingham, AL. Letohatchie, Alabama, Sunday, February 16, 1896 After two sermons by the Rev. Sydney Catts morning and evening the brothers and sisters in conference convened. Organized a church to be known as the Letohatchie Baptist Church. Called Brother Catts as their pastor who accepted. Named C. W. Powell as Church Clerk. Appointed committee to solicit members and a building committee composed of Bro. J. S. Farrior as chairman, John Frymin, Wm. Dickson, C. W. Powell whose duty is to have plans, etc. of church to be built made so the members may select what kind of building (they) would have. Approved. On motion it was decided to have Sister Dickson write Mr. Broaden confirming trade for lot. Sister Satterwhite was empowered to visit lumber mills soliciting donations of lumber. Frymin, C.C. pro tem Letohatchie Baptist Church, April 19, 1896 After two very comforting sermons to the faithful by our visiting Bro. Rev. Hardy whose work is the soliciting of money for the building of a Baptist church in Greensboro, Letohatchie Baptist and others responded to (the) amount of $18.00. The Letohatchie Baptist Church in a short conference convened (and) named J. W. Dickson as ____________, admonished building committee to proceed with haste their work. No other business. Minutes last conference read and approved. On motion the name of Bro. J. N. Langston was placed before the church to be voted on as to calling him to preach for us the following year. Letohatchie Baptist Church, July 28, 1898 Conference called to _______ the application of Dr. H. W. Beville for restoration to full fellowship and the retaining of his license to preach. Powell were appointed delegates to association. Our Pastor's year having expired the church tendered him a unanimous call to preach for us another year. He accepted with very appropriate remarks. Sisters Dickson and Powell were named as messengers to our association to be held at Prattville Aug. 22—24, 1900. On motion a committee was appointed to confer with committee from church at Steep Creek and Hayneville looking to the formation of a field composed of such churches with this church. Letohatchie Baptist Church, 2nd Sunday in Dec. 1902 Committee appointed to confer with Hayneville and Steep Creek report = that field (was) formed and Rev. N. B. Williams called as pastor for twelve months beginning with this month. C. W. Powell, M.D., C.C. Letohatchie Baptist Church, 1st Sunday in January 1903 Church met in conference. A request from Bros. _______ and Sam Frymire, Sisters Ellee _______, Annie Frymire for letters of dismission that (they) might unite with church at Searcies. On motion the letters were granted. A letter was sent to the Church Clerk of that place – "Bro. Day" notifying them of said fact. Bro. C. J. Leckie was given a letter sometime previous. J. W. Dickson, Mod. Pro tem C. W. Powell, M.D., C.C. Letohatchie Baptist Church, 2nd Sunday in April 1903 After preaching by Pastor Rev. N. B. Williams, church met in conference. By request Letters of Dismission were given to Sisters Leora J. F. Holmes, M. E. Smith, and Bro. John E. Miller. On motion the committee on calling Pastor continued in force as an advisory board with committee from Steep Creek and Hayneville. No other business. Conference adjourned. N. B. Williams, Mod. C. W. Powell, M.D., Church Clerk Letohatchie Baptist Church, Sunday 8th day Nov. 1903 The church met in a called conference to consider Bro. C. C. Jones request for a letter of dismissal so that he might unite with the Castleberry Church. A letter was granted. No other business. Conference adjourned. J. W. Dickson, Mod. Letohatchie Baptist Church, Sunday 24th day Jan. 1905 The church met in conference for the purpose of calling a pastor. A unanimous call was given Bro. W. J. D. Upshaw for one Sunday in each month. The Board to pay $75.00 and the church $125.00. Bro. Upshaw accepted and after preaching a collection of $3.25 was made for state missions. No other business. Conference adjourned. J. W. On presentation of letters from Baptist Church at Steep Creek, Sisters W---- Davis Farrior and Mary Lucile Powell were received into full fellowship. State Evangelist Wray was secured to hold meeting of days to commence Fourth Sunday August. Bro. Lucas united with church by letter. Collection of $5.00 was ordered sent to Rev. W. B. Crumpton (?). Letohatchie Baptist Church A meeting of days began in this church, State Evangelist Wray doing the preaching, Fourth Sunday in August continuing through the week. As visible result 12 were united with us – 5 by conversion and baptism and 7 by letter. A collection (of) $100.00 was given Bro. Wray. C. W.
