Lowndes County, Alabama, Deed Record Book 1, page 263:

Know all men by these presents that I William Kornegay Sr for and in 
consideration of ten shillings to me in hand paid, have given, granted, 
bargained & sold __- forever set over unto my daughter, Zilpha Chambers to she 
and her lawful heirs begotten on her body, four Negro slaves, to wit Rachel & 
her three children Jacob, Jack and Mary – to have and to hold to she and her 
above named heirs for ever.  In Witness whereof I have here unto set my hand. 
Seal December 4th, 1824

   Then was the within Bill of Sale proved in open Court by the oath of 
Whitfield Grudy & ordered to be registered.

Court of Pleas & Quarters Session February Term 1833.
I, James Persall Clerk of the County Court of the County aforesaid do certify 
that Thomas Routledge who certifies to the foregoing copy from William Konegay 
Sr to Zilpha Chambers & heirs is the acting and legal register for Duplin County 
and that the proceedings is in ___ form of law and full faith and credit should 
be given there unto as such.

I, John Watkins and acting Justice of the Peace and the Chairman of the County 
Court for the County Court aforesaid do certify that James Pearsall who 
certifies to the within copy of Sale is the acting and legal clerk of the County 
Court of Duplin County, and that the Impression attesting the same was made by 
the proper Seal of the Court for Duplin County and that full credit should be 
given to his official acts.
