They came to Alabama between 1817 and 1819 and settled in Autauga County, where they are buried in the DeJarnette Cemetery # 2. Cornelius married Martha Owen DeJarnete on January 3, 1828, obtaining their marriage license in Montgomery County. Martha was born on tOctober 22, 1812 in Wadesboro, Anson Co., NC, the daughter of Mumford and Frances Hannah Pickett DeJarnette. Martha died on March 26, 1896 in Birmingham, Jefferson Co., AL. Cornelius's brother, William, is buried in the Oakview Cemetery, Lowndesboro, Lowndes Co., AL.
