All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/al/alfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Carolyn Golowka http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00012.html#0002972 July 7, 2024, 3:00 pm Source: Will Book B, Pages 188-189 Written: July 23, 1847 Recorded: February 25, 1848 Will of Robert Connly Lowndes County, Alabama Will Book B, pages 188-189 State of Alabama Lowndes County Know all Men by these Presents, that I Robert Conolly of the county of Lowndes and state of Alabama being of sound mind and in view of the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death, do this day make this my last Will and testament. 1st It is my desire and request that all my just debts be paid and if there is not enough due me together with the sale of my growing crops to discharge my liabilities, then it is my desire that property sufficient be disposed to satisfy my creditors. 2nd I bequeath to my wife Rebecca Conolly, all of my estate both real and Personal, to have and to hold during her widowhood, but in the event of her marrying again, then it is my desire that my estate, both real and personal together with the increase be equally divided between all my lawful heirs. _ The following are the names of the salves I am at present possessed of – Ezekiel a negro man about twenty seven years old, Cats a man about twenty four years old, Leonard a boy about fifteen years old, Brister a boy about twelve years old, Bryant a boy about ten years old, Ned [?] a boy about ten years old, Charlotte a woman bout thirty years old, Phillis a woman about twenty four years old, Hannah a girl about eighteen years old, Mary a girl about sixteen years old, Maria a girl about ten years ole, Betsey a girl about eight years old and Renny a child about one year old. 3rd Reposing entire confidence in my beloved wife, and in my brother Levi Conolly, I appoint them Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and testament. 23rd July 1847 Robert Conolly {Seal} Sighed, sealed and delivered in presence of Saml W Bowie J B Bragg Marshel Conolly The state of Alabama Lowndes County Special Orphans Court, Oct 1847 Personally appeared in open court, Samuel W. Bowie, Marshal Conolly, together with John B Bragg, who being duly sworn deposeth and say, that they were present and saw Robert Conolly in his lifetime sign, seal, publish and declare the foregoing a Testamentary Paper, as his last will and testament, at the day and year therein mentioned, that the said Robert Conolly was at the time of sound disposing mind and memory, and that decedent when hearing the said paper made in his presence, said that it was just such a Will as he wanted, saw no improper influence used on decedent; that they subscribed their names thereto as witnesses in the presence of each other, but in an adjoining room to that where Testator lay in bed, but with his consent and approbation.
