In the name of God Amen, I Stephen Lawrence of the State of Alabama and the 
County of Lowndes, being weak in body but of a sound and disposing mind and 
memory and feeling desirous to dispose of my property do make and order this to 
be my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills 
by me at any time heretofore made in the names following, that is to say:

First; It is my will and desire that all of my debts and funeral expenses be 
paid.

Second; I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth Lawrence all of my property 
both personal and real to have and to hold for her benefit while she may live 
and at her death there to be equally divided between all of my lawful heirs.

Lastly; I do hereby make and appoint my wife Elizabeth Lawrence my executrix to 
this my last will assisted by sons William Lawrence, Peterson Lawrence and 
Daniel Mitchell. In witness when of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 
the 20th day of July, 1852.

The State of Alabama } Personally appeared in open court:
Lowndes County       } Charles M. Gamble who being duly sworn on the holy 
Evangelists of Almighty God, saith that he saw Stephen Lawrence deceased, in 
his life time sign, seal, publish and declare the within instrument in writing 
to be his last will and testament that he this deponent, together with Ira 
Tucker subscribed their names as witnesses thereto in the presence and at the 
request of said Stephen Lawrence, and all in the presence of each other on the 
day and year this is written and further deponent believes saw Lawrence at the 
time of signing the same was of sound and disposing mind and memory. Sworn to 
in open court this 11th October, 1852.

The foregoing is a true copy of a will admitted to probate the 11th day of 
October, 1852 and recorded this day 27 Nov. AD 1852.

Additional Comments:
Stephen Lawrence was a resident of the Rocky Mount District of Lowndes County
which later became a part of northern Crenshaw County.
