" In the name of God, Amen, I, Stephen Hawkins of said county, being of sound mind and memory at the time of publishing this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all others, and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory like, do therefore make and publish this my last will and testament, That is to say: First, after all my lawful debts and funeral expenses are paid and discharged, the residue of my estate, real and personal, whereof I may did seized or possessed, I give, bequeath and dispose of as follows: To Wit: That my said Executors shall pay to each of my children John Hawkins, Thomas Hawkins estate, Stephen M. Hawkins, Wm Hawkins, Henry Hawkins, Sarah Acreman, Eliza Williams, Martha Holladay, Mary Ann Adams, Fanny Holladay, the sum of ten dollars out of my estate of moneys which I may have on hand at my dimiss, Second, I give, bequeath and dismiss all the reast, residue and remainder both real and personal to my beloved wife, Mary Hawkins, likewise I do hereby make constitute and appoint my said wife of the County of Lowndes, State of Alabama, to be Executors of my last will and testament, and to act as such without bond. "Stephen Hawkins died in Manningham 18 March 1875; aged 87 years. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church 49 years."
