E. Watson Lowndes County, Alabama Will Book C, pages 31 - 32 In the Name of God, Amen! I, Mary A. C. Watson, of the County of Lowndes, State of Alabama, being of sound mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this rail and transitory life, do therefore make, ordain, publish, and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say: First: After all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, the residue of my Estate real and personal, I give, bequeath and dispose of as follows, to-wit: To my beloved daughter, Georgia J. Jinkens (Jenkins), all of my household and kitchen furniture of whatever nature or character whatsoever, one carriage I now own and whatever purshable (perishable) property or stock I may have at my death, and a certain Negro boy named Henry, now about nineteen years of age to her own use and behoof during her natural life, and at her death to decend (descend) to and belong to the heirs of her body. Secondly: What every money I may receive and have at the time of my death from the Estate of Emersley Watson, deceased, who was my husband, upon final settlement together with a certain Negro named Nancy, a girl, and Gordon, a boy, I desire to be equally divided into three equal parts, share and share alike, if the same can be made without the sale of said slaves. IF the sale (division) can not be fairly and equitably without a sale then my Executor and my administrator has full power to sell said slaves together with their increase for the purpose of making said division. Then one share I give to the children of S. A. Hamilton, my daughter now deceased, to be equally divided between them, another share I give to Lavonia L. Bullock, my daughter, to have during her natural life, and at her death to descend to the heirs of her natural body, and the other share I give to Georgia J. Jinkins (Jenkins), my daughter, to have to her use and benefit during her natural life and at her death to descend and belong to her heirs of her body forever. In witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name in the year of our Lord, One thousand Eight H undred and Sixty. Mary A. E. Watson (SEAL) The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Mary A. e. Watson in our presence, and acknowledged by her to each one of us, and she at the same time (who is personally known to us) published and declared the above instrument, so described, to be her last will and testament, and we, at Testator's request and in her presence, have signed our names as witnesses thereto, and have hereunto written opposite our names our respective abodes on this the fifteenth day of May One thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty. Watson, Deceased Before me, James W. Graham, Judge of said Court, personally appeared in open Court Mrs. Susannah R. Thomas, who having been sworn by me, and examined, did and does say and depose , on oath, that she and Wm. A. Thomas and John P. Cook are each subscribing witnesses to the instrument of writing now shown to her, and which purports to be the last Will and Testament of Mary A. C. Watson, deceased, late an inhabitant of this County, that said Mary A. C. Watson, since deceased, signed and executed said instrument on the day the same bears date, and declared the same to be her last will and testament, and that affiant and the other witnesses set their signatures thereto on the day the same bears date as subscribing witnesses to the same in the presence of said Testator, that said Testator was of sound mind and disposing memory, and in the opinion of deponent, was fully capable of making her Will at the time the same was so made, as aforesaid.
