On property presently owned by Mr. & Mrs. Gene Martin in the Madison Community BROCKWAY - F. A. Brockway, Co. E, I WIS. H. A. (No other information on this military stone). Note: The Brockway tombstone was the only stone in this cemetery, however, there were thirteen unmarked, countable graves. I was told by an elderly lady of the community, a Rodman descendent, that this was the churchyard of an old church called "Shiloh Church", and that her father had given her this information. According to her, the church was abandoned sometime after the Civil War. The following information are also buried in this cemetery but without headstones. This information supplied me by a Rodman family member from personal knowledge and Bible records. Mary Jane Canterbury, wife of James Rodman, born March 22, 1862, died January 16, 1901. James "Jim" Rodman, Born Wilmington, Delaware August 27, 1853, died January 28, 1907. Mrs. G. W. Crawford Janey Elanor Rodman, born April 22, 1885 - died ?) ) James Robert Rodman, born April 28, 1887 - died ?) ) Irene Ruth Rodman, Born ? died ? ) These five children died young and are ) the children of Mary Jane and James Rodman boy infant, born ? died? ) Rodman above. ) Leffie Rodman, born ? died? ) ) McCrary - Note: My informant said there were "two McCrary boys" also buried here. No other info. Canterbury - Note: My informant said "a Canterbury woman" was buried here but had no other info. - - Note: There was one other "sink" but I have no idea who is buried in this grave. F. A. Brockway married Icyminda Canterbury, Nov. 24, 1869 in Madison Co., Ala. she is buried in the Moon Cemetery at Owens Cross Roads, Madison Co., Ala. F. A. Brockway was born Jan. 1826 New Lyme, Connecticut. He died March 2, 1901 at his son Lewis A. Brockway's home in Monrovia, Madison Co., Ala. Francis was married twice he was married first to Theresa Newman of New York by whom he had 3 children, she died abt. 1867 in Wisconsin. He brought his 3 young children and came to Madison Co. Ala. where he met and married Icyminda Canterbury they had 4 children. Many of his descendants still live in Madison Co. As of July 1998 F. A. Brockway's was still standing but the cemetery is near extinction. Mr. Martin passed away about 10 year's back and his farm was sold. There is a housing development in the area now. I have a computer image of this stone taken by a cousin (Wesley Brockway) in late July 1998. The Rodman family buried there (Mary Jane (Canterbury) Rodman, husband and children) is F. A.
