I personally transcribed this document from the Register at the Greensville Co.VA.Courthouse. This document is already posted to the USGenWeb Virginia Archives for Greensville Co.VA. I thought I would also submit it for possible use in your Madison Co. Archives to make it available to the maximum number of researchers possible, should you decide to use it. Russell L. Lawrence Power of Attorney - Mary Ann Allen to John F.Walker 1825 (Deed Book 6, page 68, Greensville Co.VA.) Know all men by these presents that I Mary Ann Allen of the County of Madison and State of Alabama in consideration of the confidence I have in the integrity & good conduct of John F.Walker do hereby constitute create and appoint him the said John F.Walker my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name to sell and convey all the real estate lying and being in the County of Greensville State of Virginia which I inherited from the estate of my Father Timothy Allen late of the said County of Greensville, and also my said attorney is hereby authorised for my and in my name to make full and final settlement with my late guardian Thomas Harville of the said County of Greensville, and to receive my portion of the estate of my late father, whether in money negroes or other property, and to receipt and grant acquittances for the same, to make full and complete title to the land and to do all and every act as fully and completely as I myself could do hereby ratifying and confirming every act of my said attorney, touching the premises as binding on me as if I were personally present acting and doing. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 28th day of September 1825. Mary A.Allen (Seal) The State of Alabama County Court for Madison County September Term 1825 A power of attorney from Mary A.Allen of the County of Madison Alabama dated the 28th September 1825 to John F.Walker for certain purposes therein named was this day produced in open Court and the execution thereof being duly acknowledged by the said Mary A.Allen was ordered to be certified accordingly etc. State of alabama, Madison County} I Thomas Brandon Clerk of the County Court for said county do hereby Certify that the forgoing is a true copy and correct transcript of the order of said Court touching said power of attorney taken from the records now in my office In testimony of which I have hereunto affixed the seal of said Court and subscribed my name at office in said County the 28th day of September 1825 and of our independance 50th year. State of Alabama, Madison County} I Samuel Chapman Judge of the County Court for said County do hereby certify that Thomas Brandon whose name is subscribed to the foregoing certificate is Clerk of said Court and was at the time of making his said certificate and that the same is in due form.
