ALGenWeb File Manager - Lygia Dawkins Cutts ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Probate Records of William Leemon - Madison Co., AL Contributed by Debbie Henderson Sun, 13 Sep 1998 Book OC 7 Page 168 and 169 Thursday Morning the 21st of December 1835 William Leemon Admr Petition for sale of real estate vs. On the Petition of Joseph Leemon William Leemon's Heirs Administrator of all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits which were of William Leemon, late of the County and State aforesaid for the sale of that tract of parcel of land lying and being in the County and State aforesaid, of which the said William Leemon decd seized and possessed and which is known and described as thus beginning at the Fractional section corner, twenty six chains and ninety links below said Leemon's Ferry thence north on section One sixty five chains to a stake, thence south seventy seven degrees last thirty nine chains and eighty links to a Hickory Tree, Thence north seventy eight degrees last six chains and forty five links to a stake, Thence north sixty three degrees and five chains to a stake, thence south thirty four and a half do degree east to a spanish oak oak tree on the bank of Tennesee River, thence with the meanders of the River to the beginning and continuing one hundred and seventy six acres and eighty eight hundredths of an acre and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court, that James R. Wilks, Harry Wilks, and Minerva F. Leemon, Thomas Leemon, Martha Leemon, John Leemon, Enoch Leemon, Catherine Leemon, and Henry Leemon some of the heirs of said William Leemon, deceased and infant under the age of twenty one years- It is ordered that Richard B. Purdon of said County be appointed Guardian pendente lite for said infants to ? and defend against said Petition. And it is further ordered that siad Guardian pendente lite and Hannah Leemon, Catharine Leemon, John Y. Leemon, Benjamin Osburn and his wife Martha & Green Leemon, other heirs of the said William Leemon, deceased be cited to be and appear before the judge of said Court at the court house in the twon of Huntsville, aforesaid, on the second Monday in february next to show cause why the tract or parcel of land as aforesaid shall not then be decreed to be sold. In the Petition of Joseph Leemon, Administrator of the Estate of William Leemon, late of the County and state a foresaid deceased, for the sale of a negro woman slave named Judy aged about ? years belonging to the Estate of his intestate and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the slave aforesaid must be sold in order that the proceeds of said sale may be divided amongst the heirs of said intestate - It is ordered that said Administrator sell agreeably by the Law the slaves aforesaid on a credit of six months and make report there of this Court and by same required.
