This is the place where future President Andrew Johnson learned his trade as a tailor, in Johnson's youth. The Town retains its earliest post office where up to seventh and eighth generation descendants of the town's founders still receive their mail---much in the same way as their ancestors. There was an ancient stagecoah trail leading through the town bringing travelers from Nashville and, an old hotel plus tavern were built to service the carriage trade. General Andrew Jackson visited Mooresville on several occasions whilest he was passing through this area of the Tennessee Valley.
