Distinguished Service Cross Citation
  Ben Hope, private, Company D, 167th Infantry. For extraordinary heroism in
action northeast of Chateau-Thierry, France, July 26, 1918. After he had been
wounded in the head he continued to advance against the enemy until he had been
wounded three more times. He died as a result of these wounds-Emergency address:
Mrs. Lizzie Hope, mother, Huntsville, Ala. Residence at enlistment: Huntsville, Ala.
